Nnamdi Kanu Attacks Northern Elders Over Claim Igbo Behind Worst Attacks On Northerners

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has lampooned the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) over the claim by its leader, Ango Abdullahi, that northerners outside the North suffered their worst attacks at the hands of Igbos.

Abdullahi reportedly made the claim while addressing the northern community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the forum’s ongoing tour of southern states to determine the rate of losses incurred by northerners in the region in the aftermath of the recent EndSARS protests and violence.

“It is now becoming clear that most of the violence that are being meted out to the northerners in various parts of the South came from people from the south-eastern states. People with some names.

“It is up to the authorities to assure all of us that this must end. This must stop. I think the North will no longer allow this redline to be crossed.

“It is because people get away with criminal behaviour without sanctions and punishment that is why they keep recycling this irresponsible behaviour,” the NEF chairman had said.

But responding to Abdullahi, Kanu described his remarks as “unguarded and highly provocative.”

Speaking through IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Thursday, Kanu wondered if Igbos were also behind the incessant killing of northerners by Boko Haram, herdsmen and bandits, amongst others.

The IPOB leader claimed that northerners were reaping the reward of the alleged evil they created to undermine the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said, ”May we therefore, ask Alhaji Ango Abdullahi and his co-travelers: between the Igbo and Fulani jihadists, who are terror inclined? Who among the two tribes have violence, terrorism and killing without provocation in their DNA?

“Which of the two tribes harbour and have sympathy for the six most dangerous terrorist groups in the world – Boko Haram, killer herdsmen, Ansaru, ISWAP, ISIS, bandits? Are the Igbo the perpetrators of the daily carnage and pogrom committed by these vampires in the North?

“Were the Igbo behind the burning of car shops in Abuja and the looting of Igbo businesses in Lagos during the #EndSARS protests? ”

“The little snake nurtured by the North in their desperation to blackmail ex-President Jonathan out of power has become a python, and they are now looking for Ndigbo to blame instead of solving the problem they created.

“Ango Abdullahi should tell the world how many times any act of terror has been linked to any Igbo or Biafran, whether within or outside Nigeria. Northern elders and their Southern slaves should leave Ndigbo and Biafrans out of their ordeal.”

“It needs no proof that Ndigbo are the most hospitable, but unfortunately, the most victimised tribe in Nigeria. They are the victims of unprovoked killings and destruction of property in Nigeria often masterminded by the caliphate and their foot soldiers,” said Kanu.

Ango Abdullahi ‘Worst Thing’ To Ever Happen To North

Earlier, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) similarly slammed Abdullahi over the statement credited to him.

MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, said it was, “very unfortunate and disappointing that the wheels of disunity and disaffection among ethnic nationalities is being driven by a supposedly Nationalist.”

Madu said, “It is not in our nature to hurt nonindigenous people dwelling or residing in Igbo land but it is historic and eloquent records that the people of Arewa have killed the Igbos on several occasions in the northern region.

“The primary aim of Northern Elders Forum to Rivers State is to continue in their mission of divide and rule syndrome, they saw in Governor Nyesom Nwike as a willing tool to continue to perpetrate their enmity virus against Ndigbo.

“They may have succeeded in deceiving some leaders of South-south in seeing the Igbos as their enemies in the past.”

MASSOB described Abdullahi as an “expired political parasite” and urged South East leaders to not accord him any audience when he visits the region in his ongoing tour of northern communities in the southern region.

“He is the worst thing that happened to the people of Arewa because he denied the Arewa Youths quality education, human development, economic stability and freedom of religious slavery,” said the group.
