NNPC Employment Policy Ensures Gender Inclusion -Kyari

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),Mele Kyari has said that apart from complying with the provisions of the law to include every cadre of the Nigerian society in its recruitment policy, the Corporation ensures that women are represented at top management level.

A statement by the Corporation spokesperson, Samson Makoji on Wednesday quoted Kyari to have said this during the visit of the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Abdullahi H. Shinkafi, to the NNPC Towers, Abuja.

Describing the national oil firm as a “truly Nigerian company”, Kyari said the Corporation is in full compliance with the Federal Character policy and ensures that all Nigerians have a sense of belonging in the company through its recruitment policy

“We are proud to say that gender inclusion works here, even in our top Management we do have women represented”, the GMD explained.

Kyari further applauded the company’s compliance level adding that the NNPC is one of the companies that ensures that every geo-political zone is represented at top management level.

On his own part Shinkafi, said his visit was part of the commission’s strategic engagement with stakeholders aimed at fostering a cordial working relationship.

He lauded the NNPC for it’s continuous compliance to the Commissions principle noting that it has helped in promoting national unity by ensuring equitable distribution of all cadres of positions in the public service and equitable distribution of socio-economic amenities and infrastructural facilities.

“NNPC is one of the commission’s stakeholders and it is one of the agencies that has been complying with the Federal Character principles. This compliance needs to be extended to the socio-economic and infrastructure aspect of our mandate which impact on the lives of all Nigerians irrespective of gender, ethnic group or religion”, he said.
