NNPC Gives Progress Report On Rehabilitation Of Refineries

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari has given indications that the revamp work going on at the nation’s refineries would soon be completed to achieve optimum availability of fuel.

Kyari while speaking at the on-going Nigeria Petroleum Summit (NIPS) 2020 said the NNPC is working with technical partners to revamp its three refineries in Port Harcourt (PHRC), Kaduna (KRPC) and Warri(WRPC).

According to him, the Phase 1 of the rehabilitation work on the Port Harcourt Refinery had begun with Phase 2 work in the offing. 

He said the Corporation is also working to begin the rehabilitation work on Phase 1 of the Warri and the Kaduna refineries.

“We are, more than ever before, committed to working with stakeholders to increase our crude oil production from 2.3 million bbl per day to 3 million bbl per day.

“We’re equally committed to achieving the 40bn bbl national oil reserve target. Our recent successes in inland basin exploration in the Gongola basin and the amendment of Deep Offshore Act will improve fiscal stability and investor confidence.”

The GMD further added that the oil group is focused on expanding the domestic gas footprints to support the nation’s gas-to-power aspirations and industrialization.

He revealed that the Corporation is supplying 1.1bcf additional capacity to Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System through the ELPS II Project while the connection of gas from East-West through OB3 is near completion stage.

Meanwhile the GMD reiterated his commitment to improving the TAPE vision of the NNPC, saying operational  expansions were on to  move NNPC from a company of global impact to a company of global presence.
