NNPC In Talks With Russian Firms To Revamp Oil Refineries

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, has said that the national oil firm is in talks with Russian firms, including a state owned company and private entities to revamp ailing refineries across the country.

Kyari, who tweeted the development from the ongoing Russian African Economic Summit that in Sochi, Russia, noted that refinery rehabilitation and gas infrastructure development were on the front burner of his discussion with the Russian investors.

Involved in discussions with the investors at the summit include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, the NNPC’s Chief Financial Officer, Umar Ajiya and the NNPC’s Chief Operating Officer, Refineries, Mustapha Yakubu, among others.

Meanwhile, the GMD had earlier promised Nigerians that the full rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries would commence by January 2020.
