NNPC TO Deliver AKK Pipeline In 2022 – Kyari

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Malam Mele Kyari, has said the corporation will deliver the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano pipeline project come 2022.

Kyari disclosed this on the side-lines of the 16th organization of petroleum-exporting countries (OPEC), Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee(JMMC) meeting  on Thursday in China.

Sharing his views on the global oil markets and Nigeria’s quest to deliver the AKK pipeline, the NNPC boss told China Global Television Network that the project is expected to boost economic growth across the country..

“The AKK project will deliver 2bn cubic of gas and that is quite significant. it will help support at least 3 power plant with a combined capacity of 3600MW of power,” which he said is very significant in the context of capacity.

“It will also bring about a number of gas-less industries along the right of way of the pipeline”

“Our Plan is to deliver this project at the end of 2022,” Kyari assured.

To fully deliver the infrastructure master plan for transportation of gas to all parts of Nigeria, the NNPC  had initiated the northern and eastern pipeline network, with that of the northern axis comprising the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano pipeline.

The project include a 187-kilometre pipeline from Ajaokuta to Abuja, 193 kilometres pipeline from Abuja to Kaduna, 65 kilometres from Kaduna to Zaria, and 238 kilometres from Zaria to Kano.
