NNPC’s Baru Deserts Forbes Award In London As Fuel Queues Return To Abuja

‘Awkward’ could well describe how Dr. Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), felt on Tuesday having deserted his “Forbes Oil & Gas Man of the Year Award 2017” in London as fuel queues return to Abuja.

Dr. Baru had embarked on a short trip to receive the said award in the British Capital but had to ditch the journey when he got a call that fuel queues had returned to the federal capital as motorist had began panic-buying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The NNPC GMD may have found himself in the most embarrassing and uncomfortable situation having to deal with the abandonment of what is thought be a prearranged award by FIN and Forbes business solutions.

Addressing the fuel scarcity resurgence on Tuesday, Baru guaranteed Nigerians that the NNPC was on top of the situation.

“For the umpteenth time, I wish to call on all Nigerians to stop panic buying. We have said times without number that NNPC has sufficient products to cater for the needs of all consumers,” the NNPC GMD stated.

Meanwhile, The WHISTLER recalls that Dr. Baru had previously assured Nigerians that the NNPC had more than enough PMS in store to cater to consumers throughout the rest of 2017.
