North Korea and South Korea have exchanged gunfires around the South guard post few days after North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, resurfaced.

JCS also said that it responded by firing two shorts, adding that no injuries were sustained.

South Korean officials had said Kim did not undergo surgery during his almost 20 days away from public life, but speculative reports suggests he may have had surgery.

The confrontational gunshots marked the latest hostility between the rival countries that have been in war technically.

In a briefing, official at South Korea’s JCS said the gunfire by North did not seem like a planned provocation, adding that the area where it happened was a farmland.

However, the South authority did not provide a clear conclusion on the incident.

“In absence of vision (for the target) and in the fog, would there be an accurate provocation?” South Korea said.
