NPFL: Bendel Insurance Appoints Boboye As New Coach

Nigerian Professional Football League side, Bendel Insurance, has confirmed the appointment of Kennedy Boboye as their new coach until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Boboye replaced Greg Ikhenoba following his sacking two weeks ago after the team’s poor start to the season.

The club confirmed his appointment with a statement on their website on Monday.

The statement read: “The management of Bendel Insurance Football Club has approved the appointment of Coach Kennedy Boboye as the Technical Manager of the club.

“‎The appointment follows a mutual agreement between the management of the Benin Arsenals and Coach Boboye for him to assume full responsibility for the club’s technical department with immediate effect.

“‎After a thorough evaluation, the management found Coach Boboye suitable for the role and has offered him a substantive two-year contract. The decision is based on his proven track record, impressive credentials, and extensive experience in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).”

The widely-travelled Boboye is one of the most experienced coaches in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

He led Plateau United to the NPFL title in 2016 before leading Akwa United to their first-ever top-flight title in 2021.

Boboye has coached the likes of Sunshine Star, Akwa United, Heartland FC, Remo Stars, Plateau United, and Abia Warriors in the NPFL.

He will be unveiled as the the new Bendel Insurance coach on Tuesday.
