Plateau United maintained their lead at the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table with a victory over relegation strugglers Shooting Stars on matchday-32 in Jos on Sunday.
Goals from Emmanuel Odafe and Ibeh Johnson in both half of the encounter saw the Peace Boys secure 3 vital points at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
The result took Kennedy Boboye’s men to 58 points in 32 NPFL matches while Shooting Star’ five-game unbeaten came to an end.
In Sagamu, MFM registered their first win away from home as they defeated Remo Stars 1-0 in Southwest derby to keep pressure on Plateau United who are now ahead of them with only 3 points.
MFM’S Austine Ogunye’s 71st minute strike ensured Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men keep up pace with league leaders.
The win means MFM retain second position with 55 points.
In other matchday-32 games played in other venues across the country, ABS forced Katsina United to a 2-2 draw in Katsina, in Bauchi, Wikki Tourist edged Sunshine Stars 2-1, IfeanyiUbah held home team Abia Warriors to a 0-0 draw, Nasarawa United beat visiting Niger Tornadoes 1-0 and Gombe, playing at home were held to a 0-0 draw by Lobi Stars.
In Enugu, the game between league champions Rangers and Rivers United was postponed due to heavy rainfall.
