NRC Resumes Warri–Itakpe Train Service October 29

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service will officially resume operations on October 29, 2025, following a temporary suspension to allow for essential maintenance and safety upgrades.

In a statement made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, the management of the NRC explained that the suspension was necessary to carry out “critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the track and rolling stock to ensure the comfort, reliability and safety of passengers.”

According to the statement, the online booking portal for the train service will open by 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025, which will give passengers 48 hours to secure tickets ahead of the resumption.

Travellers are advised to obtain their tickets early either online or at designated stations.

The corporation further disclosed that operations will begin with seven coaches, comprising six standard class coaches and one business class coach.

Also, a new train timetable that incorporates temporary speed restrictions (TSR) for safety and operational monitoring will be released on Monday.
