NSCDC Arrests Vandal, Indian Hemp Dealer In Anambra

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, weekend, arrested a suspect that specialized in vandalizing and stealing public property in Awka.

The state commandant of the corps, David Bille, in a statement made available to THE WHISTLER in Awka on Tuesday , gave the name of the suspect as Sunday Ezenwaka Chukwuneta, 50.

According to the release, “On the 14/02/2020 at about 16:34hrs, through credible intelligence and intensive patrol, operatives of NSCDC arrested one Sunday Ezenwaka Chukwuneta, aged 50, from Oba in Idemili North LGA for vandalizing and stealing of iron roofing frames of a government building under construction behind Ekwueme Square, opposite Anambra State Government Secretariat, Awka.

Exhibits recovered from him include vandalized iron roofs, ladder and spanners. The case is under investigation after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.”

THE WHISTLER gathered at the scene of the incident that the private car of the leader of the team, Deputy Commandant Edwin Ugwuja, who is in-charge of training in the command, was damaged during operations.

In another development, the corps also arrested one Amobi Okafor ‘m’, aged 45, from Uruofo village, Nri, Anaocha LGA of Anambra State. According to the release, “The suspect was arrested for allegedly attacking, macheting and injuring one 71-year Mathias Ajoagu, a guard at Lake City Secondary School, Nri, and for cultivating a large expanse of Indian hemp at the school premises.

It was gathered that the suspect confessed to the crime after which he conducted the NSCDC operatives round the cannabis farm. Exhibits recovered from him include a machete, fresh leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa and other incriminating items.
