NSCDC Deploys 2800 Men For Oyo LG Poll Holding On Saturday

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has said it will deploy no fewer than 2800 officers and men to ensure peaceful local government election in Oyo State.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in Oyo State, Iskilu Akinsanya, said this at a security briefing on Tuesday.

He called on the people of the state to support the government by participating in the poll, saying the agency was fully ready to protect lives and properties of the citizens during the election holding on Saturday May 22.

He stressed further that all officers and men of the corps would be on duty for the election as undercover officers, Agro Ranger and the Counter terrorism Unit of the Corps would be deployed to all flashpoints in the state.

Meanwhile, the commandant has charged the officers and men of the corps that will work in 3,886 wards and 4,783 polling booths in the State to abide by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission election guidelines.

He urged them to be good ambassador of NSCDC. He also enjoined the traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders and landlords associations to warn their people to conduct themselves in a manner that would not cause violence in their vicinity.

Akinsanya stated further that the command and other security agencies are ready to deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach the peace in the state during and after the local government election.

The state commandant also enjoined the voters to observe COVID 19 protocol during the election and conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during and after the election.
