NSCDC, NDLEA Partner To Fight Crimes, Drug Abuse In Enugu State

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Enugu State Command, Everestus Obiyo,  on Wednesday attributed the increasing cases of crimes in the country to increase in drug abuse and  consumption of illicit substances by youths.

Speaking during a courtesy visit on him by the new Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Enugu State Command, Obiyo said hard drug had fueled various violent crimes in the country, including kidnapping, raping and armed robbery.

He called for joint efforts to checkmate the unwholesome development while praising the NDLEA for its role in combating drug abuse and hard drugs in the country. He pledged harmonious relationship between the NSCDC and the NDLEA towards winning the drug war in the country.

In his speech, the state commander of the NDLEA, Abdullahi Abdul, said that the visit was aimed at consolidating the existing synergy between the Civil Defence Corps and the NDLEA in Enugu State.
