NYSC Seeks Corps Members’ Protection During Ondo Poll

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has urged traditional rulers in Ondo State to call on the people to protect corps members who will be deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of October 10 governorship election in the state.

The NYSC DG said this in Akure during his visit to the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi.

The DG said, ”The traditional institutions are also stakeholders in the electoral process. Please help urge the good people of Akure and Ondo State in general to protect corps members.”

“I assure you of the support from the NYSC. Our corps members are digital corps members, always tell them what you want. I want to urge you to tap into their resources of corps members around you.’

He had earlier while addressing the crops members urged them to emulate their counterparts in Edo State for their conduct during the September 19 governorship poll recently held in the state.

He advised them to remain neutral and to be security conscious at all times while assuring them that security agencies would give them adequate protection

He said, “You should not compromise the integrity of the scheme and not post results of the election on social media.”

The monarch said the people of the state were peace loving, saying the peaceful poll in Edo would be replicated in the state.

The monarch assured the DG that the corps members would be protected adequately by the people of the state while lauding corps members for their conduct so far.

“Whoever emerges is our governor, your corps members have been doing well so far,” he said.
