NYSC Suspends CDS Till Further Notice

Salawu said that the directive followed the ‘social distancing’ guidelines outlined by health authorities, in the fight against COVID-19.

“Sequel to the pandemic of coronavirus globally and management’s concern for the wellbeing of corp members nationwide, I am directed to inform you to suspend all Community Development Service activities until further notice,” he added.

Furthermore, he added that the large turnout of youths in national service engagements might aid the spread of the virus, hence, the decision to call it off for the moment.

“The sudden changes in many countries warranting social changes between persons and isolation of persons on account of COVID-19 present no other option but to stop CDS activities because of a large number of persons in close contact.

He also said the directive was timely, adding that “with the abundance of caution, avoidance of errors is easily achievable.”

“This obvious course of action is directed by circumstances beyond our control,” he said.
