Obasanjo Holds The ‘Magic Wand’ To Atiku’s Presidency – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has told ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, that the secret to his becoming president in 2019 is the hands of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Jonathan also advised the former Vice-President that joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sacrosanct to his 2019 ambition.

The ex-president who stated this in an interview with Ovation Magazine, published by Dele Momodu, noted that it will be impossible for Atiku to get the presidential ticket on the platform of the All Progressive Congress.

Jonathan however stressed that for he (Atiku) to contest on the platform of the PDP, he must first get endorsement from Obasanjo.

He described Obasanjo as the ‘boss of bosses’ in the Nigerian political space, adding that ‘Baba OBJ’ has the magic wand to Atiku’s presidential ambition.

According to Jonathan, any “politician who ignores Obasanjo does so at its own peril,” advising the ex-Vice-President Atiku to find a way of reaching his former boss.

“He (Atiku) can’t get the APC ticket. If Atiku gets our party (PDP) ticket, he would compete well,” Jonathan reportedly said.

“He’s always a passionate politician. But he would have to reach out to our boss, Baba OBJ, the boss of all bosses.

“We’ve all learnt at different times that you ignore OBJ at your own peril. OBJ has the magic wand, respected at home and abroad,” Jonathan said.

Atiku served as Vice-President during Obasanjo’s eight years administration.

However, the duo fell out with each other towards the end of the administration, with the rift believed to have stemmed from Atiku’s resistance to Obasanjo’s alleged third-term bid.
