Obasanjo’s ADC Not A Threat To APC – Orji Uzor Kalu

An ex-governor of Abia state Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has said that former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), does not constitute a threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Kalu, a chieftain of the APC accused Obasanjo of always serving “himself and not serving the people.”

He said that Obasanjo only has his personal interest at heart and not the interest of Nigerian populace.

“I am not afraid it (Obasanjo’s coalition movement) is going to be a threat to the APC because Obasanjo always wants to serve himself, he is not serving the people.

“People don’t know. Obasanjo is only thinking for himself, he is not thinking about matters of Nigeria. I know him better than Nigerians know him. I know him very well, he has a lot of things under his table. Anything that involves Obasanjo is not good for Nigeria. He just wants everything to be done by him,” he said.

Speaking on Channels Television programme, Sunday Politics, the former governor said the Buhari Administration saved Nigeria from extinction by confronting the Boko Haram Insurgency, adding that the APC deserved a second term.

“When Boko Haram was bombing churches, I told people that they will extend to mosques. If not for the way Buhari confronted Boko Haram and provided weapons for the military, Nigeria would not be here.

“Everything happening in the ruling party is obtainable in other advanced democracies. I don’t see anything different from what is happening in the APC and what happens in other advanced democracies. In every democracy, there are disagreements and agreements, after all, we are not born of the same father and mother”, he said.

“PDP will find it difficult to return to power; not the party that looted public funds, it is going to be difficult. The PDP has not shown the right reason why they should return to power because going back to power means returning to power to open our Central Bank and continue the looting” he said.

On if President Muhammadu Buhari’s corruption fight is a witch-hunt, as charges against Kalu were dropped after he dumped PDP for APC, Kalu said, “I have never been one (witch-hunted). It was former President Obasanjo that made me to be one. I went to Abia to serve my people with all amount of sincerity.

“Even the PDP Obasanjo run as President, if it’s a company, myself and few others will own 90% of it. I gave him the first N500miliion in 1998,” he added.

He further urged President Buhari to probe Obasanjo’s administration if the need be.

“If Obasanjo’s government deserves to be probed, he should be probed. I don’t see anything wrong in probing any government that has taken Nigeria’s people money. The money does not belong to Buhari. The money belongs to Nigerian people.

“There was a huge corruption not only under Obasanjo’s government in terms of power…I wrote him a letter telling him … when he said all governors are corrupt, I said except me that all people who are talking about corruption that the corruption is under his table in Aso rock.”
