The visit which was under held in closed door and under so much secrecy without any knowledge of the media was only made public by the presidential spokesman Mr. Femi Adesina in reacting to speculations the visit was directed at the selfish interest of the former leaders.

“The meeting between former Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan with President Buhari were private and confidential. The president can call them for advice. But it will be unfair for anybody to feel or say it was to stop the war against corruption. The war will continue to go on.”

The speculation surrounding the visit aroused following the federal government’s decision to limit its probe to just the past administration, despite Goodluck Jonathan before handing over in May urged the present administration not to limit its probe to his administration alone.
