The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has ordered the immediate closure of unauthorised trailer parks located at Zariagi in Lokoja and Osara in Adavi Local Government Areas.
This was due to security threats in the areas.
The directive, issued on Tuesday in Lokoja, will see the parks shut down for an initial period of one month.
Ododo explained that intelligence reports revealed the facilities were being used as hideouts by criminals disguised as truck drivers.
He stressed that the protection of lives and property remained paramount to his administration.
“The importance of the well-being and security of residents of the state cannot be overemphasised. Together, we will build a Kogi where good health is a right, not a privilege; where security is guaranteed; and where every resident has a fair chance to live, work, and prosper,” the governor said.

He granted trailer operators in the affected areas a one-month grace period to vacate the parks and other unauthorised locations, especially during restricted hours.
He further directed security agencies to fully enforce the order to deny criminals safe havens and enhance security operations across the state.
The move comes amid a spate of violent attacks in Kogi.
Earlier this month, three police officers and two vigilante officials were killed in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, after gunmen attacked them at a checkpoint.
