AFP reports on Tuesday that sources in government said the officers who led the coup plot have been apprehended and suspended.

They were said to have attempted capturing the building hosting the state media so as to possibly announce the success of their plans.

According to AFP, a Senior member of Sudan’s ruling body, Taher Abuhaja, said “an attempt to seize power has been thwarted.”

A senior ruling body member, Mohamed al-Fekki, also told AFP that “Everything is under control and the revolution is victorious.”
