Offshore Technology Conference Selects United Against Human Trafficking For Cash Prize

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Executive Advisory Board has selected United Against Human Trafficking (UAHT) as the 2020 beneficiary for its Distinguished Achievement Awards event.

The chairperson, OTC Board of Directors, Cindy Yeilding, in a statement said UAHT was selected because of their commitment to ending violent abuse of human rights by education and empowerment.

The awards event is scheduled for Monday, 4 May, at NRG Center in Houston, Texas, USA, and will kick off the week on a high note where the Distinguished Achievement Award recipients and the beneficiary will be honoured.

According to the organisation more than $2m has been donated to worthy organizations in the past nine years adding that OTC donated $300,000m to Spindletop Charities, benefitting at-risk youth in Houston In 2019.

 On her part Director of Donor and External Partnerships, UAHT, Elaine Andino, appreciated OTC commitment to shine a light on the realities of both sex and labour trafficking.

She further added that the gift will enable UAHT to continue fighting for the most vulnerable in the society and ensure that everyone lives freely,”

Past OTC beneficiaries include Medical Bridges, Offshore Energy Center, Engineers without Borders, Gulf of Mexico Foundation and the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Petroleum Equipment & Services Association Energy Education Center for the benefit of the Energy Institute High School, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, Oilfield Helping Hands and the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy in Houston.
