Ohanaeze Youths Warn On Consequencies Of Plot To Deny Ndigbo Presidency In 2023

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, Saturday, warned that Nigeria might collapse in a matter of two years if certain measures were not addressed.

The national president of OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, stated this in Enugu after an extended political meeting of the council geared towards reviewing what he described as ‘some unguided utterances as regards the Nigerian presidency of Igbo extraction in the 2023 general election’.

Igboayaka pointed at the recent political calculation and permutation by the Peoples Democratic Party to cede the party’s presidential tickets to northern Nigeria as one of such problems that might affect the unity of the country.

The council also frowned on a statement credited to Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and former vice-presidential candidate of the PDP wherein the latter had stated that ‘the 2023 presidential election will be basically on credibility’.

Igboayaka, therefore, insisted that the first criterion for 2023 election was that the presidential candidates should come from the southeast extraction.

He said, “Among the tribes in Nigeria, Igbos have held the unity of Nigeria. Ndigbo have paid with their blood to keep Nigeria.

“The apostles of truth, justice, equity and fairness in the Nigeria project know that the 2023 presidential tournament will determine if Nigeria will go into political relegation or qualify to continue to exist as one entity.”

He reiterated that the only solution to stop Nigeria from ‘falling ill in 2022 and dying in 2023 is the Nigerian president of Igbo extraction’.

According to him, “Yes the Nigerian president of Igbo extraction is a pill, an anti-dote to Nigeria’s political survival beyond 2023; the only one entrance and one exit for peace and unity in Nigeria is entrance of an Igbo person into Aso Rock in 2023.

“There is one option left for Nigerians in 2023: either to accept Ndigbo and reintegrate them into the mainstream of the Nigeria political project or risk the actualization of self-determination call by Ndigbo.

“Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesperson of the Northern Elders’ Forum; stakeholders and groups or individuals, other tribes who are aspiring for president should make a choice whether Ndigbo to continue with them as one Nigeria.

“If after the 2022 presidential primary election, the leading political parties in Nigeria did not cede their presidential tickets to Igbo candidates, the call for a separate state of Igbo nation for Ndigbo will take a different dimension that will shock the global word, and will be actualized by every conventional and unconventional instrumental.”
