Okey Bakassi: 70% of Nigerian Celebs Do Drugs

Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule popularly known as ‘Okey Bakassi’, a Nigerian stand-up comedian, TV host and Actor, has raised alarm over the steady rise of drug use amongst Nigerian stars.

Okey who appeared alongside Sound Sultan and African China on ‘The Gist’ by Emma Ugolee, said Nigerian Celebrities are found in the habit of doing hard drugs and encourage its usage by youths.

He said: “Conservatively 70% of Nigerian Celebrities are on some sort of substance today. They have gone ballistic. You hear a lot of names- SK, Kush, Loud, etc. the names come everyday and you’re struggling to keep up with the nomenclature of it.”

The comedian also admitted that when he was younger, he indulged in the unholy and illegal act.

He said doing drugs, to entertainers, is a way of enhancing their creativity.

“I did some of it too. Creativity is part of it. It enhances creativity in the short term,” he asserted .
