Ondo Monarch Shot Dead

The Olufon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Oba Adeusi, whose domain is in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, was shot dead on Thursday while returning to his town after attending a meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital

The monarch was reportedly killed around 4pm while preliminary reports indicate that no one else was attacked in the car and no item was stolen.

The gunmen were said to be operating on the Benin-Owo Highway and Oba Adeusi was said to be closer to his domain when the unfortunate incident happened.

The corpse of the monarch, it was learnt, had been conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

A source close to the deceased said, ” He went to Akure for a meeting and while he was returning to Ifon, he was accosted by the gunmen,.who opened fire on him. He died.”

The police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Tele Ikoro, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
