One Dead After Car Rams into Pedestrians In Marseille

At least one person has been confirmed dead after a car ran into two bus stations in different locations in the French city of Marseille, officials say.

The first incident took place at 8.15 a.m. local time Monday when the driver hit a bus stop in the 13th arrondissement in the north of the city, Reuters reported, before hitting a second bus shelter an hour later in the 11th arrondissement, several miles south.

Police say the driver have been arrested, but is unclear if it was a deliberate attack or not, as investigations are still ongoing.

The driver was known to authorities for “acts of minor delinquency” and appears to have a “psychiatric history,” the police told CNN.

French forensic investigators were seen searching the site after the scene.

The general public have been informed to avoid the affected area, Old Port district of the city.
