One Dies, 14 Passengers Injured In Osun Auto Crash

One person has died while 14 other passengers sustained injuries in an auto accident which occured on the Gbongan-Osogbo Road in Osun. State.

The accident which involves a Toyota Corolla and a Mazda bus reportedly happened at Oogi village in the Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday.

It was gathered that the accident occured as a result of overspeeding and dangerous overtaking.

Rescuers were said to have rushed the injured to the hospital in Ede which is close to the scene of the crash.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Osun State, Paul Okpe, confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday evening.

The FRSC boss said, “The accident involved Toyota and Mazda. One male passenger was killed while 14 others were injured.

“We suspected speed limit violation and wrong overtaking as the possible cause of the accident. The victims were taken to Owode Muslim Hospital while the corpse was taken by the family of the deceased and the drivers’ union.

“The team controlled traffic for the evacuation of the crashed vehicles which were handed over to men of Nigeria police, Sekona Division.”
