One Shot Dead As Rival Gangs Clash In Osun

One person was reportedly shot dead as gangs of hoodlums clashed in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.

It was gathered that the police have arrested six persons in connection with the clash.

Residents told journalists that hoodlums had on Saturday engaged in a bloody clash at the Sango area of Ikire. The clash reportedly threw residents into panic as guns and other dangerous weapons were freely used

A gang of thugs had approached a shop owner identifued as Simia to demand for
money.

It was gathered that the shop owner gave the set of thugs money after which they left.

But after that, another set came to demand money but the shop owner declined to part with money.

The hoodlums were said to have insisted on collecting money before they would leave but Simia was said to have called the first gang which collected money from her to dislodge the new gang from her shop.

The arrival of the first gang resulted in the clash and one person was shot dead at the scene.

The Police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

She said, “One person was killed and our men have arrested six suspects.”

The PPRO urged residents to go about their businesses without fear saying the police had increased their presence in the area and other parts of the town to prevent further disturbance.
