The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, had recently defected from the ruling APC to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside the National Publicity Secretary of ruling party, Bolaji Abdullahi.

Following his defection to the PDP, the APC Chairman has been asking Saraki to resign his position as Senate President, saying it was unacceptable for him to leave the ruling party to the opposition party with “the crown” he got on the platform of the APC.
