Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, wrote her name in the history books for her new club, BAY FC in the NWSL on Sunday with a debut goal.
Oshoala scored the club’s first-ever goal in the National Women’s Soccer League against Angel City to lead BAY FC to a 1-0 win in their first match of the season.
The former Arsenal striker joined the club from Barcelona in the January transfer window, bringing an end to her five-year stay in Spain to begin a new chapter in the United States of America.
She wasted no time in introducing herself to her new employers with a well-taken strike in the 17th minute which handed BAY FC the maximum points.
Oshoala also became the ninth Nigerian player to feature in the NWSL.
The 29-year-old is the reigning African women’s Player of the Year, an award she has won for a record sixth time.
Oshoala will be hoping to continue her goalscoring form when BAY FC takes on Washington Spirit on Sunday at the Audi Field.
