Osinbajo At KolaDaisi UniversityTells Youths To Explore Opportunities For Success On Internet

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said the youth have great opportunities to succeed now than anytime in human history.

He said the opportunities available now were much more than before while advising Nigerian youth to tap into available opportunities to positively impact the world and create wealth for themselves

He said this on Thursday while delivering maiden convocation lecture at the KolaDaisi University, Ibadan.

He advised Nigerian youths to believe that they had everything needed to succeed but said aside acquiring university degrees, they must strive to improve themselves everyday especially through online classes and other opportunities for self development available on the Internet.

He said they must not make the mistake of thinking that integrity and self discipline did not matter.

The VP.said, “Always be suspicious of those who always talk about the good old days. They probably have bad memory because every generation has its bright spots.

“You are graduating at the most advance moment in human history. The smart phone you have in your hands today has more computing power than in the Apollo Spacecraft that took man to the moon in July of 1969.

“Let me assure you that there is plenty of hope There are more opportunities available for success now than ever before. There. Is a whole new world of opportunity especially with the Internet and digital technology.”

The founder of the KolaDaisi University, Chief Kola Daisi, who was installed as the first chancellor of the university at the convocation expressed satisfaction at the place of development in the university.

Daisi said, “I believe that an educated society is essential to a successful democracy and in this era of technology, it is very certain that, probably, as much as 70% of jobs in our future economy will require university education.

“To commemorate this occasion and especially so as to attain the competitiveness and distinction that I envisage, a special Endowment Fund has been established for the KDU and with every humility, I hereby wish to subscribe the sum of one billion naira (N1,000,000,000.00) as my initial subscription to the university’s Endowment Fund.

” My hope is that the fund will serve as a reassurance that, God willing, the future is bright for the institution. My dream is for KDU to achieve the fame and renown of a “Harvard” or “Cambridge” and I trust that with the support of all stakeholders the Good Lord will make the actualization of this lofty dream, a reality.”
