Osun Rerun: APC Allegedly Offers Omisore N480m, Senatorial Ticket

Ahead of Thursday’s governorship rerun election in Osun State, the All Progressive Congress has reportedly offered Iyiola Omisore, Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, a whooping N480 million.

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Wednesday, claimed that the APC chairman, alongside some governors of the ruling party also offered Omisore senatorial ticket on the platform of the party.

THE WHISTLER reported on Wednesday, that Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, and some APC governors visited Omisore at his residence, in a bid to woo the SDP candidate to support the party in Thursday’s rerun.

The visit came 24 hours after Senate President Bukola Saraki, led other members of the Peoples Democratic Party to Omisore’s residence to support the opposition party in the September 27 rerun.

“On sat. Adams Oshiomole called Iyiola Omisore a murderer and by wed. he offered him 480 million and the APC senatorial ticket.I trust that Iyiola will remember that dining with the devil is a risky business:the bible says what profiteth a man to gain the world and lose his soul,” Fani-Kayode wrote on Twitter

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Saturday’s election inconclusive. The electoral body said the difference of 353 between the leading aspirants was less than the total of 3, 498 that was cancelled in about seven polling units in the election.

Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP polled 254,698 votes against his closest rival and candidate of ruling APC, Isiaka Oyetola, who got 254,345 votes.

Omisore came third with 128,049 votes.

The rerun will hold in seven polling units across four local government areas of Orolu, Ife north, Ife south and Osogbo.

Speaking after the meeting, Omisore said: “We have our own action plan in the SDP. The APC has come to us, so also the PDP. We are yet to take any decision on the matter. When the decision is taken we will let you know.”
