The Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State, Abdulrasheed Akanbi has incurred the wrath of the State Traditional council after violently assaulting a fellow monarch.
He was handed six months suspension from the throne on Friday.
Akanbi was alleged to have assaulted the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa, Sikirulahi Akinropo, at a peace meeting summoned by an assistant inspector-general of police in the state.

The Orangun of Ila, Wahab Adedotun, while addressing newsmen after a meeting of the monarchs on Friday, said the suspension was not based on the incident at the peace meeting but due to Akanbi’s conduct to other traditional rulers in Yorubaland.
Adedotun alleged that Akanbi had been rude to other monarchs including the Alafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi and the Oni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
A committee to further investigate the matter involving the Oluwo and monarchs in Iwo land was further constituted by the council.
The incident had prompted some monarchs from the Osun West Senatorial District to call for the suspension of the Oluwo on Friday.
The Oluwo had earlier denied the allegation that he beat up Oba Akinropo, while also accusing the Agbowu of interrupting and calling him names while he was speaking at the meeting.
According to him, what happened between him and Akinropo was a “mere altercation and not physical combat”.
“I did not punch Agbowu of Ogbaagba, although there was altercation that almost resulted to exchange of blows, but that didn’t happen at all,” he had said.
“I brought him and other Obas to the police to talk to them on the need to stop selling land that did not belong to them.
“I am fighting corruption in a traditional way. They are selling hectares of land at the rate of N60,000, which I’m kicking against.”
