The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the announcement of results of the Osun State governorship election.
The announcement is currently going on at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State.
The front runners in the elections are, APC, ADC, ADP, PDP and SDP.

Results from 26 LGAs have been announced, with four to come. As it stands the front-runners are PDP: 231,621, APC: 204,348.
Meanwhile, PDP members in Osun are already in jubilant mood, as their candidate maintains his lead.

All the returning officers from the local government areas have presented their results and final collation is ongoing. The returning officer from Osogbo LGA said votes from Ward 5, Unit 17 was cancelled because the presiding officers absconded with ballot boxes.
Meanwhile, PDP agents on ground have raised allegations of irregularities in the figures from Olorunda and Ife East LGAs.
From the summation of the results, PDP has 254,698 votes while APC has 254, 345. The difference between both parties is 353 votes.

There are indications that the election could end in a run-off, going by the close margin of the results. According to the Nigerian constitution, the winner must have not less than one-quarter of the votes in at least two-thirds of all the local government areas of the state.
