Oyedepo To Buhari, ‘It’s Too Late To Make Nigeria An Islamic State’

Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has told the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government that its ongoing efforts ‘‘to turn Nigeria into an Islamic State’’ cannot be achieved.

Oyedepo, who said this in his Sunday sermon of June 5, 2018, was reacting to recent report that the Police Service Commission (PSC) allegedly included Arabic Studies in its special JAMB examination recently conducted for new police recruits.

The report, which sparked outrage by Nigerians on social media, was denied by both the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Police Service Commission (PSC).

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, had in reaction to the outrage claimed that the examination was based only on “English Language test for 45 minutes.”

Oloyede had said, “The instructions were that candidates should answer the questions in that section alone.

“On completion of the 45 minutes test, any candidates who rolled down would come across subjects listed in alphabetical order of the 23 subjects with the first 3 being Agriculture, Arabic and Arts,” he said

But speaking to thousands of congregation at his Ota church yesterday, Bishop Oyedepo said it was totally unacceptable for the police commission to make candidates sit for Arabic studies during the examinations.

‘‘The inclusion of Arabic studies in the recent Nigeria Police Force NPF recruitment test is highly unacceptable,’’ said the cleric.

“Some forces just want to score political marks by trying to divide and impress the president and divide us as a people.

“This administration and all agents that want to divide us should be seriously warned as it’s too late to turn Nigeria into an Islamic State.

“We, therefore, reject the NPF recruitment test and ask for it to be re-written without the inclusion of the Arabic Studies in it,” said the Bishop.
