Oyinlola, Others Meet Fayose, Begin Reconciliation Of Aggrieved S/West PDP Leaders

Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and other PDP leaders have begun the moves to reconcile aggrieved leaders of the party in the South-West.

The reconciliation committee headed by Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun State, and a former member PDP Board of Trustees, Dr Saka Balogun visited former Governor Ayo Fayose at his residence in Ibadan on Wednesday.

Fayose, who had been at loggerheads with the Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde said the incumbent governor was not his leader but a follower.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting was succesful as one of those in attendance said Fayose was not angry with Makinde but said the former governor disagrees with the governor on some issues.

He said those in attendance at the meeting agreed that Dr Eddy Olafeso who is from Ondo State should be allowed to return as the National Vice Chairman ( South-West), the position he resigned from to contest the PDP governorship primary election in Ondo State earlier in the year.

Some of those at the meeting were: Femi Babalola, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeniyan; Rev Bunmi Jenyo as well as some leaders of the party in Ogun, Ekiti and Lagos states: Dr Sikirulai Ogundele, Otunba Bisi Kolawole; Adedeji Doherty and Sunday Bisi.

The PDP leaders reportedly said they would soon hold another meeting with Makinde in order to move forward and ensure that the crisis was permanently resolved .

Recall that the Chairman of Oyo State Pacesetters Transport Company, Dare Adeleke, had recently said there was no agreement between Makinde and PDP leaders that Olafeso should be allowed to return as zonal chairman if he failed in the Ondo State governorship poll.

A source at the meeting however said Makinde would have to accept the choice of Olafeso to stop the crisis from further festering.
