The council boss was said to be traveling along the  Okeho-Ado Awaye road  on his way to Ibadan for a meeting scheduled to hold with  Governor Seyi Makinde when the hoodlums abducted him.

But while answering questions on the incident on the sidelines of the parade of nine suspects arrested in connection with the burning of a police station in Iseyin, the commissioner of police said the chairman and his driver would soon be rescued with the help of local hunters and vigilantes.

He lauded hunters and other vigilante groups in the state for assisting security agents and working with them to tackle crime in the state especially when the police withdrew its men from the #EndSARS protest all over the country.

Enwonwu said the vigilante groups were called upon when two persons were kidnapped at the peak of the crisis and they responded promptly and rescued the victims.

He said, ” I want to commend hunters and vigilante groups in the state for being wonderful. When the crisis was on the police were still working and we contacted them when we were told that two persons were kidnapped.

” They entered inside the bush immediately, they rescued the victims and arrested three suspects.

” I am sure the local government chairman will be rescued with his driver very soon.”

He said some hoodluns targeted police stations for their attacks during the protest so that they would be able to perpetrate their criminal activities unchecked.
