Oyo Police Mobilise Students, Politiciains, Unionists, Others Against Cultism

The Oyo State Police Command has urged students, labour unions, artisans and others to join it in its efforts to stop cultism anywhere in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu, who said this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi said, the police would not allow cultists to make Oyo State unsafe at anytime of the day.

The PPRO said the command had released some jingles to begin the campaign against cultism which he said had destroyed the lives of many youths.

The statement read, ‘The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP. Nwachukwu Enwonwu, wishes to sensitise the general public on Police Campaign Against Cultism and other Vices which is an initiative of the present Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

“The CP stated further that the campaign is aimed at saving Nigerian Youths from the claws of cultism and other vices, making our environment safe and secured in line with the tenets of community oriented policing.

“Furthermore, relevant stakeholders, the media, corporate organisations, political class, student union bodies, town union leaders, faith based organisations, post primary school management board, ministry of youth and sports, labour union and trade inion bodies, artisans, women and market unions, sister security agencies, neighborhood watch groups amongst others are implored to be part of the IGP’s initiatives.”
