Oyo Records 38 COVID-19 Cases As Figure Jumps To 1,989

Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has said the state recorded 38 fresh COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,989.

The governor, who announced this on his Twitter handle on Friday, said three persons were also treated and discharged after their two test results came back negative.

The governor had on July 16 said the state had a total of 1951 cases of coronavirus.

The tweet read, “Three confirmed COVID-19 cases received their second negative test results and have been discharged.

“This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to 1015.

“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty-eight suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from Oluyole (13), Ido (5), Egbeda (4), Ibadan N (4), Ibadan SW (3), Ogbomosho N (3), Akinyele (3), Ibadan NE (1), Lagelu (1) and Ibadan SE (1) Local Government Areas.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 1989.”

Makinde called on residents of the state to comply with COVID-19 protocols and to go for test if they had symptoms of the virus.

He said residents should call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800 if they needed to be tested or visit community-based testing centre.
