Panic As Monkeypox Hits Lagos

Panic has gripped residents of Lagos as two suspected cases of Monkeypox were on Monday recorded in the state.

Dr. Jide Idris, the State’ Commissioner for Health, confirmed the suspected cases while briefing journalists in the state.

Idris said the two suspected cases have been placed on close surveillance.

“Though no confirmed case has been recorded, there is need to sensitise members of the public and provide adequate information on measures for prevention and control of the disease in line with the policy of the State government,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has sensitized residents of the state on the new deadly epidemic.
