Paris Attacks Were Planned Through The PlayStation 4 Network – Belgian Minister

Intelligence experts gathered that, ISIS is using the PlayStation 4 network to recruit and plan attacks because it is more secure than WhatsApp.

Reports have emerged that at least one PlayStation, 4 console was seized in Belgium, which has become the focus of investigations, in relation to the attacks.

Belgian Minister of Home Affairs Jan Jambon said intelligence agencies have discovered evidence of jihadist using the games consoles to exchange messages with a special, hidden recruitment channel.

Jambon said: “The thing that keeps me awake at night is the guy behind his computer, looking for messages from IS and other hate preachers.

“PlayStation 4 is even more difficult to keep track of than WhatsApp.”

It is more difficult to monitor console chats compared to mobile phones, as not only are messages encrypted, but users can create private voice chat rooms which would make prying by the authorities far more difficult unless they could directly join the conversation.

What makes things even worse, communication is possible without even typing a word. It’s been claimed that Call of Duty (CoD) players could write messages to each other on a wall in a disappearing spray of bullets.

Back in June, the PS4 console was used by a 14-year-old Australian boy to reach out to militants supporting the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria and download the blueprints of a bomb, the unnamed teenager was sentenced to a two-year jail term after pleading guilty to the terrorism charges.
