Paypal To End Support For Amazon Fire, BlackBerry And Windows Phone Apps
American online payment system company, Paypal, announced on Thursday that it will discontinue its app on the Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Amazon Fire users, on June 30.
From July 1, 2016, users of affected devices will no longer be able to access the PayPal app, the company said. Bringing the total number of supported mobile operating systems down to just Android and iOS.
The online money transfer company claimed that ending support for Windows will allow the company to “innovate and make enhancements to PayPal’s mobile experiences to give our customers the best possible ways to manage and move their money.”

“It was a difficult decision to no longer support the PayPal app on these mobile platforms,” said Joanna Lambert, PayPal’s VP of consumer product, in an announcement on the company’s blog.
“But we believe it’s the right thing to ensure we are investing our resources in creating the very best experiences for our customers.”
However the company noted that despite being left without a native app, affected users will still have full access to PayPal’s mobile website for account management and money transactions. There are other options, too; BlackBerry users can still send peer-to-peer payments with PayPal through BBM. And on the Windows side, Outlook.com users can enable the PayPal add-in to send payments right from the email app.
“We remain committed to partnering with mobile device providers, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers,” Lambert added.

In February, WhatsApp announced it would no longer support BlackBerry at the end of 2016. And several companies, including GoPro and Here dropped support for Windows Phone this year.
Meanwhile, PayPal will also become less friendly to crowdfunding backers starting June 25, amending its user agreement to drop the eligibility of payments on those platforms for its Purchase Protection program.
