PDP Loses Four Reps Members To APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to witness a gale of defections from its party as four federal lawmakers have dumped the opposition party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers from Zamfara State joined Governor Bello Matawalle who had dumped the party for the APC about a fortnight ago.

The legislators – Bello Shinkafi, Ahmed Bakura, Ahmed Bungudu and Suleiman Gummi – represent different constituencies in the House of Representatives.

A letter they wrote to the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, was read on the floor of the house on Tuesday.

“we the underlisted members wish to officially notify you of our defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) following the crisis of the PDP in Zamfara state which has consequently led to the dissolution of the state executive by the national body,” said the lawmakers.

Governor Matawalle’s media aide, Yusuf Idris, had revealed ahead of his principal’s defection to the APC that, “the governor will come along with all the National and State Assembly members as well as the PDP executives from all levels of the state.”
