PDP, R-APC To Join Grassroots Mobilisation For Atiku’s Presidential Election

Efforts are underway to get members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress – R-APC – to join a grassroots mobilization for Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s presidential election in 2019.

This was according to Chief Chido Okolo, national coordinator of the Atiku Volunteers group, who made this known in a statement sent to THE WHISTLER on Monday.

According to Okolo, the volunteers group is working hand in hand with Nigerians both home and abroad to enable Atiku rescue the country from “its current quagmire” orchestrated by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“We need Atiku because he has the administrative astuteness to solve the myriads of problems facing the country. He is detribalised, industrialist, pro-youths, visionary and an educationist par excellence. That is why we root for him to salvage Nigeria from its current quagmire. We implore the hierarchy of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Reformed All Progressives Party and other political parties as well as well-meaning groups and individuals to volunteer in this race,” said Okolo in a statement issued in Enugu State.

“Very soon, we shall embark on community services nationwide to demonstrate to Nigerians the new dawn that Atiku’s presidency will bring. We also embark on grassroots mobilisation for voter registration and voters’ cards mobilisation because therein lie the voting power,” he said.

Recall that Mr Atiku had officially made his decision to run for president known in March this year.

The former Vice President had consequently appointed former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, as the Director-General of his presidential campaign organisation.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports have it that Mr Atiku has settled for the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as his vice presidential running mate in 2019.
