PDP’s Adeleke Loses Osun Governorship Rerun

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun governorship rerun election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has lost to Isiaka Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeleke, who was initially leading with 254, 699 votes in the September 22 election that was declared “inconclusive” by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), however, lost to Oyetola who earlier came second with 254, 345 votes.

In the latest official result announced by INEC, Oyetola defeated Adeleke by polling 255,505 votes against the latter who scored 255,023 votes.

The APC candidate was able to defeat Mr Adeleke after enlisting the support of Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who had emerged third place with 128, 049 votes. The SDP candidate had announced readiness to work with the APC candidate to defeat the candidate of the PDP.
