The ruling by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the said court, followed a suit by the Corps challenging the arrest and subsequent detention of its Commandant and other personnel in Abuja.
The Whistler recalls that the Corps had in the suit, demanded N2 billion as damages against what it described as “unlawful arrest” and detention of its Commandant and 49 other personnel.
In the suit instituted through its lawyer, Mr. Kanu Agabi, SAN, the Peace Corp urged the court to criminalise the clampdown on its offices nationwide by the security authorities.

The plaintiff claimed that under the amended 1999 constitution, its commandant, Dickson Akoh and the 49 others did not commit any offence warranting their arrest and detention.
