Pepsi Rolls-out Own Branded Smartphone

Pepsi P1 offers a 5.5-inch Full HD screen with 2.5D curved glass design and runs on the company’s proprietary dido OS, which is based on the Android 5.1 build.

It is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6592 processor with 2GB RAM, it comes with 16GB of internal storage and is similar in looks to Apple’s iPhone.

This dual-sim smartphone boats a fingerprint scanner, and features a hybrid setup for storage expansion: you can slip in a microSD card to expand the storage, but will have to give up one sim card slot in the process.

The smartphone has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1/3.06-inch lens, whereas the front camera has 5MP resolution. Under the hood is a 3,000mAh battery, and the internet can be accessed over 4G networks.

However, it is only available in China – and is being sold via a crowdfunding site.

The P1 is actually being manufactured by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. in China.

The early bidders (now sold out) were offered a price of $78, the phone was then available at $110 and $150 with 1,000 units until it achieves its expected target of $46, 9950 (3 million yuan) by December 3rd.
