PHCN Sales Proceeds: Court Clears Amb Igali

A Federal High Court in Abuja has absolved former Nigerian Envoy to the Scandinavian region, Ambassador Godknows Igali of involvement in the N27 billion PHCN sales proceed scandal.

In his ruling on Monday, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba ordered that the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power be excluded from the case.

The judge also ordered that there should be no further mention of Igali in the case as there exists no evidence against him.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had linked Igali with 12 properties it had confiscated and obtained an interim forfeiture order.

The former Perm Sec’s name was also included in a controversial looters list released by Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed.

He had since challenged his inclusion, insisting that funds for the privatisation of PHCN never came to the Ministry of which he was Permanent Secretary.

He also maintained his innocence in the whole matter, insisting on his robust and unblemished Civil Service track record across different MDAs.
