The IPOB leader looked frail and appeared to have lost some weight.

Kanu, who was first arrested on treason charges in 2015, had spent close to one year in prison.

After several court orders for his release, the IPOB leader was subsequently released on bail on April 28, 2017.

Kanu had disappeared under controversial circumstances after Nigerian soldiers raided his family home in September, 2017.
