The agenda of the meeting remains unknown at press time,  but Jonathan, who lost re-election to President Buhari in 2015, visited the president for the first time since his swearing in for second term on May 29, 2019.

Jonathan’s last visit to the State House was in 2016. The former president was escorted to his car by the State Chief of Protocol, Lawal Kazaure, after his meeting with Buhari.

Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) was said to have announced the appointment of Jonathan as its Special Envoy on Crisis Management on Monday. The appointment was made by UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
