Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and his wife, Layal, have been conferred with chieftaincy titles in Lagos State.

Tinubu was installed as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, while his wife received a complementary chieftaincy title during a ceremony held in Lagos.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, congratulated Tinubu on the honour, describing it as a recognition of service, character and commitment to culture.

“I warmly congratulate Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu on his installation as the Okanlòmo of Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun,” Sanwo-Olu stated on X.

“This honour reflects service, character, and commitment to our culture and people.

“I wish him continued strength and clarity as he carries the responsibilities and expectations that come with this new role.”

The installation comes less than two weeks after the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, conferred the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on the president’s son.

Born on October 13, 1985, Tinubu is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Though widely regarded as a member of a politically influential family, he has built a career in the private sector.

He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Loatsad Promomedia, an advertising firm established in 2013, and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, obtained in 2010.

Speculation had trailed Tinubu in late 2024 and early 2025 over a possible interest in the 2027 Lagos State governorship race, although no formal declaration has been made.
